New power plants are installing scrubbers, selective catalytic reduction systems and fabric filters. Older plants are being retrofitted with various SO2, NOx, and mercury reduction controls. The next biggest segment is stone. Cement plants need expensive particulate control equipment. In the U.S. and some other countries, scrubbers and non-selective catalytic reduction equipment are needed.
The market for indoor air filtration is increased by the trends toward higher quality replacement filters in residences and commercial buildings. Odor control with scrubbers and activated carbon filtration is a growing segment. Municipal wastewater plants are investing in activated carbon filters, biofilters and chemical scrubbers.
