The power industry represents 45 percent of the market. The bulk of these purchases will be in Asia. China is building large numbers of coal-fired power plants. It is also upgrading existing power plants to meet more stringent NOx and particulate limits.
India is building a number of new coal-fired boilers and is addressing the pollution problems at steel mills, cement plants and refineries. Vietnam and Indonesia are also going to be major purchasers.
Taiwan, South Korea and Japan have very tough air pollution control regulations in place. This is also true of the U.S. and Western Europe. So the growth in the air pollution control equipment market will be lower in these countries. However, odor control for municipal wastewater plants is a growth segment in developed countries.
